For my final H1B extension, I used Chugh law firm and my employer did premium processing with them. Got my 3 yr extn in 2 days!!! Not sure if its the law firm or just my case.But they were prompt in paperwork and my interaction with them was only twice. Just honor their checklist and u r done.
However, for GC, I used Mr. Michael Khosla's (The Law Offices of P. Michael Khosla & Associates, P.C. www.usimmigration.net (http://www.usimmigration.net)) services. Reasonable fee and awesome service. Never had any issues and got my GC in 2010

The original poster "getrdone" wrongly pressed panic button. There is no change from 2004 thru till now. I went to mexico several times for stamping. I have seen several people who got stamping for H1-H1 & F1-H1 (Safe), H4-H1 & B1-H1 (Lucky guys)...In anycase, taking Mexican Visa (though absolutely not mandatory) is advised
The change of status cases (F1 -> H1, H4 -> H1 etc) are not allowed anymore at Mexico. I think it went into effect last month.

I am wondering if there is a potential issue for the applications filed between July 3rd to july 17th. This is the period when everything was in limbo. Is there any disadvantage for these folks?
So far I haven't seen anyone getting checks cashed or recipted in this period. We do see July 2nd notices comming in.
I had my 485 application received at NSC on July 3rd. And now we are hearing that they may transfer cases to TSC if I-140 was approved from there. Another delay! This wait is getting me restless.

Hi,
My parents got 10 year multiple entry US visa 2 years back. My brother who was residing here had sent the required documents and applied the visitor visa. My parents had visited me then for 3 months. Now I am planning to get my parents to US. But my brother no longer lives in USA. Is my parent�s visitor visa still valid since my brother is not residing here or should I re apply for my parents visitors visa. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do not think USCIS has started premium processig for 140. As per last update, the Extension of suspension of premium process is indefinite until next update.

Hi,
My wife's I-485 got a REF and I have received the alert. I have not received the actual document. When we went for medical exam in 2006, she was pregnant and one of the vaccine was not given. I am expecting the REF would ask for the remaining tests.
Right now my family is in Hyderabad, India. Is there any provision in Hyderabad to complete medical exam ? or I need to bring them back to US ?

Check the timeframe on RFE, some have 90 days (3 months), so you should have enough time to respond. It is advisable to visit the same doctor (since he/she has record of your original test).

Yes, my dad took his expired GC to the Chennai Consulate when he went for his visitor's visa stamping and let the first level screening officer know that he has this document - she then made a note of it (I think) and asked my dad to hand it over the VO during the interview. When my dad handed it to the VO - he was looking and gazing at it for a while and then took it inside and had a small discussion with a couple of people and then filled out a form and had a notary notorize it and asked my dad to fill out the form and gave my dad a copy and then put it in an envelope and attached this to my dad's visitor's visa file.

An I-140 has nothing to do with I-485, except to the extent that an I-140 has to be approved before an I-485 can be approved. So I-140 approval is must before an I-485 can be approved. Further, an I-140 is not related to the priority date - An I-140 can be filed any time once one has an approved labor (Assuming, of course, one is applying in EB2/EB3). But I-485 can only be picked up for processing (or even filed) if the priority date is current.
If your I-485 date is not current, it does not matter what you do about your I-140. The question about affecting I-485 is irrelevant if your priority date is not current, which is the situation now.
(USCIS is accepting I-485 applications now until August 17th even though the priority date - the visa availability, in short, is "U", unavailable - but that is a rate exception, and does not affect the actual processing of I-485s: 485's applied today will NOT be processed even if accepted, until the visa bulletin says visa numbers are available for your priority date)
Confusing? I'm afraid it is.. but anyway, the short answer to your question is, no. The people your refer to likely have applied I 485's earlier (say in June or earlier), and their fast approval is likely for different reasons, other than premium processing for I140.
