Who honestly cares? Lame. I saw a black guy and a mexican guy chatting outside a bookstore yesterday. Let's focus on that.
Nice dude, you really had to go there right? A good'ol racist comment.

wonder if this is why direcTV never came out with this functionality. Generally they are ahead of the curve (TWC) with comes to actually providing value for the customers, to some degree.
Until not that long ago Fox controlled DirecTV, so that is likely why.
They have a program you can use on your computer to watch your dvr from your computer, but it has issues.. One is it does not work on a computer with dual monitors, which is just dumb.

Hong Kong, Japan & a few other countries have been using technology like this for a while. Hopefully it'll start being mainstream in Western countries soon.
Hong Kong uses a SMART type card for everything, transport, vending machines, etc etc.
Japan uses their mobile phones, AFAIK :P

iGary i'll just say again that i hope you ask for Zofran (or at least some such antiemetic) this will go a long way towards keeping you from getting sick, since i know you're worried about that.

...The Windows phone 7 Metro UI is much better looking than iOS, cleaner, more fashionable. iOS is downright ugly compared to it.
I would agree that the WP7 Metro is a good looking UI when compared to iOS. However, it seems pretty obvious that we won't be getting an iOS UI overhaul after having seen screen shots of Lion's Launchpad.

I added an addendum for the technologically impaired to the lifehacker article posted a few times on how to shut it down on the iPhone, which evidently you have to do separately if you use the app. Posted on my business' Facebook page, oh the irony! It's fairly simple to disable and render ineffective(though sadly not "shut off" per se).

First, it would be patented material, not copyrighted material. And patent infringement, especially design patents, is really quite easy to pursue.
Quite possibly there are no actual patents covering the design of the case (would not pass requirement for non-obviousness or inventive step, unless some exotic materials are used, for example). What they no doubt have is an industrial design right to the case, which are called design patents in the US. They might also have trademark protection on shape. And, naturally, a contract with the actual manufacturer, which might pursue the person for stealing their products, if the products are not legally the property of Apple. This would not be an option if they are produced by some third party. There may be copyrights involved, if the product is deemed to pass the "threshold of originality". Some countries have laws on good business practices, which may apply in this case.
All in all, if it seems unlikely that a 17-year old kid could legally sell this stuff and make a bundle, it is probably true.

Does this include everything that comes standard on a Mac box?

I understand why people like iOS, and it is useful for a lot of things. Productivity is far behind novelty/entertainment at this time, but iOS will become far more versatile when the portable hardware ups a few leaps.

Word is far more productive for most people IMO because Pages just isn't a word processor. I haven't used Pages all that much and I don't own it so I suppose I can't really complain about it too much but when I have dabbled with it, it's come across as a little over-simplified. It might just be because I'm used to Office apps which are admittedly pretty bloated but nevertheless, Pages just gives the impression of being underdone and kind of useless for most people. Publisher was a horrible app and Pages is merely an Apple (much better) version albeit still kind of redundant. I realize a lot of people here use it productively but it's still a pretty niche app for now. They need to make a better GUI and add some word processing focus IMO.

What I am saying is - if SJ wants to sell his computer to the sub 20-year-old community, he better get his prices down. Because even though I could work my tail off at work, and earn enough money to buy a mac, a mac still might not be worth it. For example, if apple sold a dual 1.5 GHz 970 in addition to the current line-up for $10,000, it still wouldn't be worth $10,000 for me because that equates to ~1,170 hours of work for me. If I was a extremely well off person, and money wasn't an issue, the computer would be worth the money.
So, basically what I am saying is Apple needs to get down their prices in order to sell their high end systems to people who want them but don't have the highest paycheck.

Oh wow, the corded ones have a usb jack? I only have the wireless one. Neat!
The corded model has two USB ports, one on each side. I connect my mouse in the left port and from now on USB drives in the right port.

P4s can't go Dual. It's sorta like the G3, it's just not designed to do that. It wouldn't work.

really? which printer or camera uses it? It should be marked with the patent number if it does.
Doubtful. A judge already said they don't infringe.
First off Kodak doesn't even have to use its patents necessarily to sue, but clearly they have over the years since they've been making digital cameras and printers for quite some time. If you want to check each an every Kodak product for patent numbers, knock yourself out! :D
As for your second point, see the Macrumors UPDATE.
That initial ruling is being re-examined.
I still think Apple should just buy Kodak and start collecting the royalties from the other companies that have already made deals with Kodak, but it looks Apple's legal strategy is to drag this out until Kodak goes under.
